LHL pilot with Food4HealthyLife
A new pilot with LHL will test how Food4HealthyLife-based guidance works in practice. The goal is to learn, refine and prepare for potential scaling — with SmartEating as the technology partner.

Our science
HOW SMARTEATING IS BUILT
Official recommendations from the Directorate of Health
The joint Nordic evidence base
Published nutrition modelling from the University of Bergen
Personal recommendations
Adapted to your goals, your everyday life and your data
EVIDENCE FOUNDATION
SmartEating is built on established nutrition principles, Nordic recommendations and research-informed modelling. The current product is positioned as wellness and clinic-supported nutrition guidance, while any future clinical functionality requires separate validation and regulatory assessment.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
AI in SmartEating does not create its own dietary advice. It uses the established evidence base — the dietary guidelines, NNR 2023 and the research models — and makes it applicable to you.
AI does not replace specialists or dietary guidelines. It makes them easier to use in practice.
What we use AI for
Combines research from trusted sources
Analyses your logs and entries
Adapts recommendations to you
Suggests meals that fit your everyday life
Learns your preferences over time
RESEARCH PROJECTS
SmartEating is a technology partner in Food4HealthyLife research. The collaboration is about testing whether research-based nutrition guidance in the app actually works — in general practice, in the general population and in practical pilots.

DAM 2023 · The DAM Foundation · LHL
Patients with elevated HbA1c (pre-diabetes) are recruited through PraksisNett, a national network of GPs. Participants are randomised to either the SmartEating app or a control app. The study will provide clinical evidence for app-based nutrition guidance in Norwegian primary care.
DAM 2024 · The DAM Foundation · LHL
Participants aged 50–75 from the Bergen i Endring cohort are randomised to SmartEating or a control. The study integrates health and sustainability in one model, giving insight into both cardiovascular risk and the environmental footprint of food choices.
